WWF welcomes the Heart of Borneo’s Strategic Action Plan

In the 9th Conference of Parties to the Convention of Biological Diversity (COP9) in Bonn, Germany, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Malaysia announce Trinational Action Plans to conserve Heart of Borneo (27/05). All the three Bornean countries are to be congratulated for their commitment towards the transboundary conservation programme, global conservation organization WWF said today.

Expedition into the Heart of Borneo

As part of a 10-day expedition to Malaysia and Indonesia, a group consisting of WWF-US Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of WWF-US Board of Directors, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Chief Conservation Officer, as well as WWF and TNC Board of Directors members explored the Heart of Borneo (HoB) and the Coral Triangle in mid-August 2007.

1st Trilateral Meeting on Heart of Borneo

WWF-Malaysia participated in the first post-Declaration meeting held in Bandar Seri Begawan on 18 and 19 July 2007. This was a very important meeting that officially discussed potentially beneficial conservation agreements on safeguarding the forests of Borneo. Both Heart of Borneo teams from WWF-Malaysia and WWF-Indonesia met here as part the delegates from each country.
