WWF went to Johore Bahru to meet with representatives from the Federal, Sabah and Sarawak government agencies to talk about the development for Heart of Borneo in Malaysia from 2 – 3 July. At this meeting, the working committee took note of WWF’s on-going work in several areas such as Ulu Segama Malua located in the Sabah part of the Heart of Borneo.
As an active delegate, WWF gave inputs to the Heart of Borneo Project Document for Malaysia, in preparation for the first Trilateral Meeting to be hosted by the Government of Brunei. Although the Heart of Borneo is a government-led programme, it was agreed that WWF will still carry on giving inputs to the development of the project document needed from each country as well as future state and national-level meetings.
The meeting was an appropriate platform to acknowledge partners and agencies which help support the Heart of Borneo. These were bodies that gave advocacy and monetary support to the programme. Now, the committee hopes that the programme will continue to get support, especially from internal sources.
