Kem Terendak Names Adopted Turtle

Kem Terendak recently adopted a hawksbill turtle which had nested on a beach adjacent to their military camp on 11 August 2007. The turtle has since been tagged with MY4444/MY4445 flipper tags to track her migratory movements via satellite. The turtle species is listed as critically endangered. 4.8 tonnes of rubbish collected during beach clean-up

More than 140 people from all walks of life gathered on Sunday, 28 October 2007, to tackle the piles of garbage that lined the beach in front of Sekolah Menengah St. Peter Kudat. The purpose of the beach clean-up, which was held in conjunction with Kudat Environmental Week, was to create awareness about the importance of waste management.

Over 20 limestone caves exist on Balambangan Island, an island that is located in the proposed Tun Mustapha Park in the Kudat-Banggi area. With archaeological findings which date back to the Pleistocene (Pleisto - most; cene - recent) era (The Ice Age between 1.75 million to 11,000 years ago), and intriguing chambers and limestone formations, the caves have the potential to attract both local and foreign visitors to Kudat.

Launch of Kudat Environmental Week

Assistant District Officer of Kudat, Encik Mohd. Salleh Haji Aliakhbar, launched Kudat Environmental Week, which is being held in conjunction with Malaysian Environment Week. This event is the first of its kind being held in Kudat. Coordinated by WWF-Malaysia and Kudat Turtle Conservation Society (KTCS), this week-long event is focused on creating awareness of the Marine and Coastal Environment in Kudat.

YTL Cheque Presentation Ceremony

YTL continues commitment to environmental protection through donation

YTL Corporation is continuing its long term commitment to environmental protection by awarding a total of USD200,000 (RM680,000) to fund local conservation projects. The grants, at USD100,000 (RM340,000) each were awarded to two conservation groups, WWF-Malaysia and Rare.
