Joint statement on Urban Green Areas by WWF-Malaysia and the Malaysian Nature Society
Hardly a day goes by without media reports on the disappearance of urban green areas due to the mushrooming of development projects. More local residents are protesting the loss or impending loss of green areas in their neighbourhood as can be seen in the current controversies over development projects especially at Bukit Gasing, the Bukit Persekutuan and Bukit Damansara, all of which are within Kuala Lumpur. In solidarity with these local groups, the WWF-Malaysia and Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) would also like to voice our concerns about the state of our urban green areas. » Read more

Position Paper, Fastwood Plantations
There are currently 200 million hectares of plantation forests in the world. The term plantation includes a wide range of commercially planted forests, and trees planted for community use as well as non-production purposes. A small proportion of plantations, often referred to as Fastwood Plantations, and variously estimated at 15-40Mn ha worldwide, are intensively managed and will contribute disproportionately to future industrial wood supply. » Read more

WWF-Malaysia's Position on Climate Change
Climate change is considered to be one of the biggest threats facing nature and humanity today. It is an undeniable, pervasive, and insidious planetary crisis that affects every aspect of our lives and future. In order to avoid the devastating effects of climate change, global warming should stay well below a 2° Celsius increase compared to pre-industrial temperatures. To attain this objective, global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions need to be cut by at least 50% in the coming decades.
